This morning, our Samsung ML 2010 laser printer wouldn’t feed paper. I tried printing a couple of MS Word documents and MS Excel spreadsheets, but the paper would move into the printer around 2 inches, and then stop. And the red On-Line/Error light would switch on.

This is what I did to solve the “paper won’t feed” problem…

I checked if the Samsung ML-2010′s pickup rubber was in place, and it was. Since the toner has been running low for quite some time, I thought that perhaps this paper feed problem can be solved by simply replacing the toner cartridge.

There was some risk, though. What if it doesn’t work? What if I’ll end up spending PhP 3,220 for the toner (at Complink, Robinsons Galleria) and still experience the paper jam problem?

Afterall, wouldn’t the laser printer simply “print” a blank sheet of paper if is was just a “no toner” issue?

Anyway, I popped in a brand new toner cartridge for the Samsung ML 2010, and was able to print my reports easily. Yes, the paper jam problems disappeared!

So if you’re using a similar printer, and you notice that the toner is quite low (for several weeks), don’t be surprised if your printer eventually stops feeding paper. For all you know, it could simply be a toner issue.

Happy laser printing!
