What is passive income? It’s money that comes in even if you hardly do any work.
For example, you place money in the bank (e.g., UITF, Bonds), and then one year later your money has grown by 8%. That’s passive income.
How much money do you want to receive each money? Let’s say you want P500,000.
In a year, that’s a total of P6.0 million (500k x 12). If we divide P6.0 million by 8% we get P75.0 million.
This means that if we place P75.0 million in a bank and it earns 8 percent, at the end of one year we’ll have P81.0 million (that’s P75.0 million + P6 million).
In other words, we can then withdraw that P6.0 million and use it over the next 12 months (there’s your P500,00 a month). The P75.0 can be placed again in the bank, and after 12 months it can earn another P6.0 million again (assuming the money grows at 8 percent again).
In AIMGlobal, the maximum daily earning is P24,000 per account (according to the AIMGlobal speakers).
Assuming we do the 7-Heads approach and get 7 accounts, that’s a theoretical maximum daily earning of P24,000 x 7 or P168,000 a day. Multiply that by 30 days and we get P5.04 million a month.
(CORRECTION: Let’s just multiply it by 26 days since there’s no encoding on Sundays and public holidays. So we multiply P168,000 by 26 days and get P4.368 million. Thank you to Marhgil Macuha for the clarification regarding the 26 days.)
Assuming we only spend P36,800 a month and save the remaining P4.0 million, that’s P48 million a year.
So in less than a year and 7 months, we would have saved P75.0 million and that’s what we can place in the bank at 8 percent, if we want to passively get P500,000 a month.
Of course, if we maintain a simple and healthy lifestyle, and don’t spend all of the P500,000 in a month, we’ll be able to protect ourselves from the effects of inflation. We won’t have to keep adjusting our P500,000/month target upwards.
